PYKAALAA -  

is a unique and romantic super old pine wood built milieu, consisting of three (3) separate buildings with four (4) options to stay - the big main villa HONKAPIRTTI, old renovated farm main building WANHAPIRTTI and a old pine tree lodge KELOAITTA including two suites, only 18 km from Kuhmo city center in the amazingly beautiful wild landscape of the Finnish Kainuu region. You will never forget Pykaalaa where your soul and mind embrace for ever a piece with the surrounding nature in Pykaalaa mileu.

Pykaalaa offers year-round stays for the guests.

It is a great place to relax, spend time also with friends and family, hiking in the forest, fishing alone or with a guide in a big lake, wildlife watching with a guide, berry picking and mushroom picking or hunting, cycling and skiing. You can also visit nearby museums and heritage sites, cultural activities, visit nature parks nearby, see wildlife with a guide and much more. 

All the buildings are rented separately or the whole Pykaalaa. All three buildings consist of a total of 248 m2 for your cosy stay

a. Honkapirtti villa 127m2 (1-6 persons),

b. Wanha Pirtti old farm 90m2 (1-6 persons),

c. KeloAitta´s  Big Suite (20 m2) for 6  persons, Small Suite (11 m2) for 2 persons.

The mileu also has a Kelogrill, an old pine wooden house for indoor barbecues and cosy sitting around the fire, with an outdoor terrace. Kelosauna, a turf wood sauna for max 1 person with bath, shower and dressing room and a small terrace facing the residential pond with a dip from the sauna building. All guests have access to tKelosauna and  Kelogrill barbecue building. Fishing is possible with quality fishing gear by Pykaalaa for all guests for free and a boat 250m from the buildings in the nearby Lake Lapinjärvi with crystal clean water, also swimming possibility.  

Cost: Honkapirtti per night 110€,  Wanha Pirtti 90€, Keloaitta Big Suite 60€ and its Small Suite 40€.   You can rent the whole Pykaalaa for 300 € per night. For a longer stay a discount available.

INFORMATION PER OPTION

1. HONKAPIRTTI (Old Pine Log Tree Villa):  

Unique villa built of hundreds of years old pine wood, 127 m², on two floors with stairs. Well-equipped kitchen with appliances, stone oven, dining table for 8 people in the living room, cosy unforgettable stone fireplace. Downstairs room with a desk and sofabed for 1-2 people. Upstairs, the separate main bed room with double bed, TV and access to a small balcony overlooking a field and wooded landscape. Upstairs loft-lounge with beds for 2 people. beds for six in total. Downstairs separate toilet, utility room/shower, sauna (electric heater), washing machine with drying function. At the main entrance, terrace with seating, access from the utility room to the rear terrace where you can sit and watch the forest view.

Equipment: Air source heat pump, fireplace, hairdryer, radiators. 2 x TVs (45" and 55") , WIFI, radio, CD and vinyl record player, stereo, Netflix and Allente (premium satellite package), gates at top and bottom of stairs, high chair, childproof courtyard for outdoor play. Kitchen is equipped with a fridge, e-oven, coffee machine and microwave oven and dischmachine with basic food prep stuff and tableware. Defibrillator in case of an emergency.

2. WANHAPIRTTI (Old Lodge):  

90 m², on one floor. Spacious old style living room with baking oven and bed for one. Bedroom with double bed and separate convertible bed for 1-2 persons.

Equipment: Air-source heat pump and electric radiators in addition to wood heating, electric light.  TV (46"), Hairdryer, radiators, WIFI, Netflix. Kitchen is equipped with a fridge, small e-oven, coffee machine, kettle, and microwave oven, basic food prep stuff and tableware. Separate water toilet and shower. 

3. KELOAITTA (Old Pine Tree Farm Lodge) - 2 Suites: Big Suite and Little Suite

Two separate different apartments; Big Suite and Little Suite, on the 2nd floor of the barn style old pine tree building (steep stairs up to the suites).

a. ISO SVIITTI (BIG SUITE): 20 m², kitchenette with water supply, bunk bed for 2 persons by ladder, a 2-person a bunk bed plus a sofa bed for 1-2 persons. A total of 6 persons can stay. 

b. PIKKU SVIITTI (SMAILL SUITE): 11 m², kitchenette with water supply, beds for 1-2 people in the loft, ladder access. For 2 people in total. 

Equipment (both suites): Electric light, air heat pump, kitchenette with hot/cold water, electric stove, coffee maker, Wifi (no TV), basic food prep stuff and tableware. Joint water toilet in the first floor. Shower in the Kelo sauna within short walk. 

5. Please note Pykaalaa can also host a caravan or a camper van, please ask for the price to stay.

AVAILABLE FOR ALL GUESTS:

1. KELOSAUNA (Old Pine Tree Sauna). The sauna with turf roof can accommodate max 6 persons. Equipped with an electric heater on a timer. The sauna, washroom and dressing room have underfloor heating, the washroom has a shower cubicle with hot and cold water, electric light. Next to the sauna there is a sand-based pond for swimming (10x5m), stairs with handrails to the pond. The pond is not kept open when it is frozen. 

2. KELOGRILL (Old Pine Tree Grill): A magnificent grill house where you can prepare tasty and varied dishes in the shelter from the weather. Equipment: Electric light, mini-fridge, sink and portable water. Indoor seating area for the grill, seating and table space for dining on the porch of the grill. Smoking cabinet/boiler for smoking meat and fish, flame grill boards and wok pan. 

3. OLD PINE TREE SHED: Outdoor games; darts, badminton, fishing equipment. Heating for three cars, with the cars' own wiring. Underground cellar and greenhouse. Storage space in the garden for guests' skis, walking sticks and bikes. Garbage can at one end of the fence. Firewood is freely available: birch wood for grilling (good for charcoal), aspen wood for stove heating and ambience.

4. BOAT SYMPAATTI: Rowing boat "Sympaatti" (Sympathic) on the shore of the adjacent lake Lapinjärvi. High quallity fishing gear and life jackets available in the shed. Usage of the boat available until the lake is frozen. 

OTHER INFORMATION:   

Pets are allowed in all accommodation. In the courtyard there is a dog enclosure of approximately 30 m², next to the enclosure there is a separate dog kennel. Outdoor toilet/toilet, as an alternative for those who appreciate ecological nature values, next to Kelogrill. Very good quality spring water available in all Pykaalaa buildings. 

The temperature in the housing buildings is a basic one in the autumn and winter (10-15°C), the permanent accommodation warms up quite quickly after adjusting the air heat pump. For more detailed heating instructions, please refer to the accommodation and separate instructions the guest gets from the owner for the successful stay. Accommodation is available from 16.00 on the day of arrival until 12.00 on the day of departure, including weekend bookings, unless otherwise agreed.

Pykaalaa pricing pitch is subject to guests cleaning up on departure. Cleaning can also be ordered and bed line separately at a different price. For uncleaned premises, the guest will receive a cleaning bill afterwards, based on the actual cleaning costs. It is very considerate the premises are left in the same condition, as if the leaving guest were the next occupant. If there are any problems, please contact the owner to rectify the problem in accordance with the instructions given to the guest after the booking is made.

In  Keloaitta there is also a separate room "Koirala" (a doggyroom), 15 m²,a room with, among other things, toilet and kitchen towels and spare lamps. Keloaitta´s Koirala room also has a large chest freezer, a sink with a tap and storage space. The room can be used as a kitchenette.
