How To Reach

  • MALAGA - Duquesa Village You can use the A7 route to save on tolls if you prefer but there will be more traffic, and it is a slower road which will lengthen the transfer time. The route using the superhighway which is quicker and quieter is described here. Upon departure from Malaga Airport follow all sign posts to Algeciras/Cadiz. The toll road is called the E15 / AP7. The coastal route is the A7/N340. As you come out of the airport at the island continue straight ahead but keep in the right hand lane when you come of the island. Beware of traffic from the right, parallel with you as you enter the island. Drive past the San Miguel Brewery which will be on your right, keep in the RH lane, at the end of the brewery follow the road as it turns to the right, you will then join a highway (MA21), (Note: Turn off slip lanes can be mistaken to be main lanes), keep in the right hand lane but do not leave the highway until you come to the Motorway which is signposted Cadiz/Algeciras MA-20 (which later runs into E15-AP7, for your information all motorway signs are blue). Look for the big hotel sign CARENZA and the Porsche Showroom on the right, now take the turning to the right; this is a small slip road which takes you onto the MA-20. You need to aim for Algeciras and Cadiz. The journey should take you no longer than 1 hour driving time using the E15 / AP7 (toll road) - remember wherever you see a motorway junction you stay left to keep on the E15 / AP7, there are 2 difficult junctions where it is easy to turn off the Motorway, these are at Junction 214 and Junction 153. NOTE: MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT IS 120 kph but this varies to suit the area. Signal to overtake and return to lane, the speed limit reduces as you go through a tunnel and you must have your headlights on. Your drive down will take you through 2 tolls; the first is Calahonda, the second San Pedro. The price of the tolls will vary according to season. As well as manned barriers for cash/card payment there are facilities to pay with credit/debit cards – for payment by card follow the signs for the automatic booths on the right marked “Tarjetas solo”. There are two difficult junctions that are important to keep you on the right track, Junction 214 is the first, it is easy to turn off the motorway towards Marbella, you must follow the signs for Algeciras and Cadiz on the main highway by keeping in the two left hand lanes, at this point as it quickly becomes 4 lanes and the natural flow is to the right. These junctions are illuminated but a string of Green, Blue and Red lights on a night located on the barriers and which can be a little overwhelming. After the San Pedro toll continue and the E15 / AP7 will merge with the A7. You will start to see signs to Estepona but ignore those and continue ahead. Exit at Junction 153 onto the N340 for Algeciras/Cadiz. There is a long slip road you must get into that runs from one junction to the other, and which then rises up and turns over the motorway to the left. After leaving the motorway then take the 4th exit at the island (sign posted N340) after the filling station. Continue on this road with the sea always on your left and over the next 5 roundabouts. After the 5th roundabout (which is approximately 10km from the 1st roundabout) you will travel through an underpass. Approximately 500m from this point is the entrance to Puerto de la Duquesa (just past Restaurant Alfonso sign). This is a slip road descending with “sleeping policeman” on the way down. Continue down this road, ignoring the turning to the left under the main road. Take the right turn at the t-junction and you are now travelling up a hill with the golf course on your left. In approx 200m there is a junction with a phone kiosk on the left. Follow the road to the left and you will come to a planted square with bars and shops in what is called The Courtyard at Monte Duquesa about 150m along the road on your right. Watch out for speed ramps. Continue up the hill until you come to an island, turn right at this island, this is Duquesa Village, the security guard will take your particulars and open the barriers for you, you are staying in Block 13, Stairway 50 Apartment 02. (Annette Parr is the key holder, she will have left a key in the key safe for you), continue downhill to the next island, turn right, notice the location of the waste bins on the right, and follow the road down until you come to the 30 road sign. This is outside Bloque 13, the apartment is No 2 on the ground floor. There are 2 Bloque 13’s, ours is the lower one with the garage entrance underneath, coloured Terracotta. (The other is Yellow) Just in case: If you miss the turning for Estapona off the motorway you can continue along the E15 to Manilva, there are a number of tunnels but the turn off is just after Tunnel Casares, and after Rio Manilva, the junction is at the Junction 142 sign, this is by the cement works that can be seen directly in front of you just before the junction, here you are diverted to another Toll. Exit the toll, go across the bridge and take the first turning at the island with a sign Cementeros, follow this road round, it bye passes Manilva, (do not follow the second sign for the Cementeros as this is the entrance to the Cemetery), at the next island take the second exit and follow the road down the hill, (A377) watch the bends, to Sabinillas. At the island take the first exit to the right and follow the slip road along until you rejoin the N340. You are now back on track just past the underpass mentioned above, approximately 300m from this point is the entrance to Puerto de la Duquesa (just past Km144 sign), now follow the instructions detailed above from this point.
