Terraces and gardens

The buildings are surrounded on the top the hill by almost 10.000 square meters of gardens and lawns, of which about 1.600 are “private gardens” of the apartments on the ground floor and the rest are available for all guests who can choose the preferred location to sit and relax.

At the very top of the hill there are two terraces with wonderful views on the underlying valleys and on the nearby forests and on the relatively more distant historic buildings and hamlets. Perugia  is even visible from several private gardens and many windows. 

Swimming pools

Castello Monticelli has two pools, both with a beautiful view on the valley. The bigger one is facing north-west and has the shape of a bean and is 16 meters long and 6 meters wide. The smaller pool is rectangular, is 8 meters long and 4 meters wide and its water is kept clean with oxygen. It is facing north-east, has a view on the city of Perugia and several medieval hamlets.

The organic vegetable garden

The farm of Castello Monticelli  has in the plain about 4 hectars of good arable land (about 1.000 acres). It has also about 4 hectars of wood on the slopes of the hill. In the plain the organic vegetable garden occupies 1,6 hectars, of which  half an hectar is devoted to blackberry and raspberry plantation. In the rest of the land in the plain the farm grows alfalfa and fruit and olive trees.

The farm is classified as an organic farm. The vegetables are used mainly for the restaurant and sold to the guests in self catering. In the medium run, as soon as the berries, the fruits and the olives will be available, they will be bottled with the label “Castello Monticelli”.

The guests can enjoy a unique and unforgettable experience by choosing between various luxury rooms and suites, all finely furnished and all with a spectacular view on the valleys around, and several comfortable and spacious apartments, all with Tuscan terracotta floors and with oak and chestnut beams and terracotta bricks on the ceilings.
